What's Japan Whaling Association?

Organization

The Japan Whaling Association (JWA) was established in December 1959 as a nonprofit foundation. After the moratorium on commercial whaling adopted by the IWC came into effect, JWA restarted activities for the resumption of whaling as a private organization. Currently the JWA is supporting the whaling industry as a general incorporated institute following the 2019 resumtion of whaling in Japan.

Activities

We are promoting whaling as an indispensable food industry and culture for Japanese people through the various measures such as public relations.

Object of this Home Page

We are concerned about people having the wrong perception of whaling because of the lack of information and the biased information spread by some environmental organization. Through this home page, we try to provide correct information about whaling, and hope to have as many people as possible understand whaling correctly.
